Consultant Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon

Responsibilities

• Perform complex paediatric cardiac surgeries, including correction of congenital heart defects, valve repairs, and arterial switch operations.
• Provide comprehensive pre-operative, intra-operative, and post-operative care for paediatric cardiac patients.
• Manage critically ill patients in the Paediatric Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (PCICU) in collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Conduct thorough patient assessments and develop individualized surgical treatment plans.
• Collaborate with cardiologists, anaesthesiologists, and nursing teams to optimize patient outcomes.
• Counsel families regarding diagnoses, surgical risks, and long-term management.
• Supervise and mentor junior surgeons, residents, and fellows.
• Participate in clinical research, audits, and quality improvement initiatives.

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MBBS, MD, or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
• Completion of a recognized Residency in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
• Fellowship in Paediatric Cardiac Surgery from a recognized institution.
• Board Certification (American Board, FRCS, Arab Board, or European Board).
• Eligibility for consultant registration with the relevant Saudi healthcare regulatory authority.
• Minimum of 5–10 years of post-fellowship experience as a Consultant Paediatric Cardiac Surgeon.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience working within the GCC region.
• Proven track record of excellent surgical outcomes in high-volume tertiary care or academic medical centers.
