Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality, high-volume elective Upper or Lower limb surgical services
  • Provide specialist shoulder-led orthopaedic care across outpatient, day-case, and inpatient settings
  • Undertake surgical procedures including primary knee/hip arthroplasty or upper limb care
  • Provide clinical leadership and expert advice to the wider clinical team
  • Participate in clinical governance, audit, and quality improvement initiatives
  • Support service development and contribute to teaching and training
  • Manage all aspects of patient care including preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative activities

Requirements

  • MBChB, MB BCh BAO or equivalent primary medical degree
  • Full GMC registration with licence to practise
  • CCT (or within 6 months) in Trauma & Orthopaedic Surgery or equivalent specialist registration
  • FRCS (Tr & Orth) or equivalent
  • Fellowship training in Upper limb arthroplasty (Shoulder/Elbow) or Lower Limb (Hip/Knee)
  • Higher degree (MD/PhD) or additional subspecialty fellowship
  • Demonstrable high-volume independent practice in primary THR and TKR
  • Evidence of high operative volume (e.g., 250+ hip/knee replacements or 500+ knee arthroscopies in the last 3 years)
