Consultant Ophthalmologist

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive eye examinations and diagnose a wide range of ocular conditions
• Perform advanced ophthalmic procedures and surgeries, including cataract, glaucoma, corneal, and retinal interventions
• Manage acute and chronic eye diseases with evidence-based treatment plans
• Interpret diagnostic imaging such as OCT, fundus photography, visual fields, and ultrasound
• Provide pre-operative and post-operative patient care
• Collaborate with optometrists, nurses, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Educate patients on eye health, treatment options, and preventive care
• Maintain accurate medical records in compliance with Saudi healthcare regulations
• Participate in departmental meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and clinical audits
• Contribute to training and mentoring junior doctors, residents, and allied health staff

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution
• Board certification in Ophthalmology
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience
• Fluency in Arabic is required
• Must hold or be eligible for Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) licensing
• Proficiency in performing ophthalmic surgeries relevant to your subspecialty
