Consultant Neuro-Ophthalmologist

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and manage neuro-ophthalmic disorders affecting the optic nerve, visual pathways, ocular motility, and neurological vision
• Evaluate and treat conditions such as optic neuritis, papilledema, diplopia, visual field defects, and cranial nerve palsies
• Perform comprehensive neuro-ophthalmic examinations and interpret specialized diagnostic tests including OCT, visual field testing, and electrophysiological studies
• Interpret and correlate neuroimaging findings (MRI and CT scans) with ophthalmic and neurological conditions
• Collaborate with neurologists, neurosurgeons, neuroradiologists, and endocrinologists to develop multidisciplinary treatment plans
• Provide specialized care for both adult and pediatric patients
• Educate patients and families regarding diagnosis, treatment options, and long-term management
• Supervise and mentor junior physicians, residents, and fellows

Requirements

• Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution
• Completion of a recognized Residency in Ophthalmology
• Fellowship in Neuro-Ophthalmology from a recognized institution
• Tier 1 qualification (e.g., American Board Certification, UK CCT, Canadian Fellowship, or Australian/New Zealand Fellowship)
• DOH License, DOH Eligibility Letter, or eligibility for Consultant licensure in the UAE
• Minimum of 5 years of Consultant-level experience in Neuro-Ophthalmology

Preferred Qualifications

• Dual fellowship or subspecialty training in Pediatric Ophthalmology
• Previous experience working in a tertiary care hospital or academic medical center
