Requirements

About the role

Responsibilities

  • Implement goat enterprise and value chain strategies to improve productivity and management systems.
  • Promote improved production practices including selective breeding, strategic feeding, and disease prevention.
  • Support the strengthening of Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs) and Goat Producer Companies (GPCs) through governance and business planning support.
  • Facilitate market linkages with traders, buyers, and processors to improve aggregation and marketing systems.
  • Support the establishment of fodder demonstrations, community fodder systems, and goat feed enterprises.
  • Coordinate with JEEViKA teams to facilitate access to veterinary services, breeding, finance, and insurance.
  • Maintain enterprise and market data and document best practices and success stories.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Veterinary Science, Animal Husbandry, Livestock Production & Management, Rural Management, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in livestock development, specifically within goat value chains, FPO/FPC strengthening, or agribusiness.
  • Strong technical knowledge of goat production systems, animal health, nutrition, and breeding.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and digital data tools.
  • Fluency in Hindi and local languages of Bihar.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in livestock extension services and goat enterprise development.
  • Proven track record in establishing market linkages and working on government or development projects.
  • Experience in capacity building, training, and mentoring community leaders.
