Consultant Infectious Disease

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, treat, and manage a broad spectrum of infectious diseases including bacterial, viral, fungal, and parasitic infections
• Manage complex cases such as sepsis, HIV, tuberculosis, endocarditis, osteomyelitis, and hospital-acquired infections
• Lead and support antimicrobial stewardship programs to optimize antibiotic use
• Collaborate with ICU, internal medicine, surgery, and microbiology teams for integrated patient care
• Provide consultation services for inpatient and outpatient infectious disease cases
• Participate in infection prevention and control initiatives and outbreak management
• Ensure compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations and international clinical guidelines
• Contribute to teaching, training, audits, research, and continuous quality improvement programs

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi
• Board Certification or Fellowship in Infectious Diseases (American Board, UK CCT, Canadian Board, or equivalent)
• Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Infectious Diseases
• Minimum 5–7 years of post-specialist experience in a tertiary care or academic hospital
• Strong experience in managing complex infectious disease cases and antimicrobial stewardship
• Excellent clinical judgment, communication, and teamwork skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in outbreak management and hospital infection control programs
• Exposure to ICU infectious disease consultation
• Research publications in infectious diseases
