Consultant in Stroke Medicine

Responsibilities

• Provide routine and emergency stroke services to the Trust
• Operate a system of mutual out-of-hours cover
• Provide consultation and advisory services to medical colleagues in other specialties
• Participate in the education and training of junior doctors, medical students, nurses, and paramedics
• Collaborate to maintain stroke services in line with strategic requirements
• Contribute to service development and renewal of treatment guidelines
• Demonstrate commitment to clinical governance principles

Requirements

• MRCP Qualified
• Full GMC Registration with Licence to Practice
• Entry on the Specialist Register in Geriatrics, Acute Medicine, or Neurology (or expected within 6 months)
• Clinical training equivalent to CCT in Stroke Medicine
• Ability to take independent responsibility for acute medical emergencies
• Strong teamwork and motivational skills
• Ability to use evidence base and clinical audit for decision-making
