About the role
Responsibilities
- Ensure safe and effective anaesthetic care for patients undergoing eye surgery from neonates to the elderly
- Lead preoperative assessments and tailor anaesthetic plans using local anaesthesia, sedation, or general anaesthesia
- Manage risks and complications during surgical procedures
- Support surgeries ranging from cataracts to complex orbital operations
- Collaborate closely with ophthalmic surgeons and theatre teams to ensure efficient service delivery
- Shape departmental standards, mentor junior staff, and contribute to clinical governance
Requirements
- GMC Specialist Register - Ophthalmic Anaesthesia
- FRCA qualification
- CCT or CESR
- 6+ months NHS Consultant Ophthalmic Anaesthesia experience
