About the role

Responsibilities

  • Assess, diagnose, and manage adults with learning disabilities presenting with mental health conditions, behavioural challenges, or neurodevelopmental disorders
  • Lead the development of care plans and risk assessments
  • Contribute to multidisciplinary team meetings
  • Provide clinical leadership and supervision to junior medical staff
  • Conduct outpatient clinics, home visits, and collaborate with community teams, social care, and families
  • Contribute to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement initiatives

Requirements

  • Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
  • Section 12 Approval and Approved Clinician (AC) Status
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in Psychiatry of Learning Disability or within six months of achieving CCT
  • Inclusion on the Specialist Register or eligibility for inclusion
  • Experience working with individuals with learning disabilities and complex needs
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team-working skills
