Consultant in Adult Psychiatry

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and treatment for inpatients and Community Mental Health Team (CMHT) patients
• Develop and implement individualised treatment plans to address psychiatric conditions and improve quality of life
• Deliver therapeutic interventions including medication management and psychotherapy
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated care and effective discharge planning
• Educate patients and families about psychiatric conditions, treatment plans, and symptom management strategies
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting progress and adjusting treatment plans as necessary
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, and service development initiatives
• Provide supervision and support to junior staff and students
• Engage in continuous professional development to stay current with best practices in psychiatry

Requirements

• Relevant degree or equivalent qualification in Psychiatry
• Full registration with the appropriate professional body
• Section 12 approval
• Willingness to work flexibly across a range of clinic models, venues, and days of the week
• Good communication skills and IT literacy
• Commitment to Continuing Professional Development (CPD)
