Consultant in Adult Psychiatry

Responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical leadership and psychiatric care to adults with various mental health conditions
• Conduct comprehensive assessments, formulate diagnoses, and develop tailored treatment plans
• Oversee patient care under the CPA as a Section 12-approved clinician and Approved Clinician
• Work collaboratively with psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other professionals
• Guide and support junior medical staff
• Contribute to service development, clinical governance, and quality improvement
• Engage with families, carers, and external agencies to ensure holistic care

Requirements

• Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
• Inclusion on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
• Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
• Experience in inpatient and/or community mental health settings
• Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
