Consultant in Adult Psychiatry

Responsibilities

• Lead psychiatric care across inpatient and community settings
• Conduct assessments, diagnose, and develop treatment plans under the Mental Health Act
• Oversee care under the CPA as an Approved Clinician with Section 12 approval
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and support junior staff
• Drive service development and clinical governance
• Engage families and agencies to ensure holistic, person-centred care

Requirements

• Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC)
• Inclusion on the Specialist Register for General Adult Psychiatry (or within 6 months of CCT)
• Section 12 approval and Approved Clinician status
• Experience working in inpatient and community mental health settings
• Strong leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills
• Commitment to continuous professional development and clinical governance
