Consultant Geriatrician

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to maintain Older Adult and General Medical services in line with strategic requirements
• Provide consultation and advisory services to medical colleagues in other specialties
• Take responsibility for the professional supervision and appraisal of postgraduate doctors
• Liaise with medical staff in other specialties and participate in clinical meetings
• Contribute to the development of Older Adult services and treatment guidelines
• Demonstrate a firm commitment to the principles of clinical governance

Requirements

• MRCP Qualified
• Entry on the Specialist Register in General and Geriatric Medicine (or expected within 6 months)
• Clinical training and experience equivalent to CCT in Geriatric Medicine
• Ability to manage acute medical emergencies independently
• Strong teamwork and leadership skills
• Ability to use evidence base and clinical audit for decision-making
• Ability to appraise junior doctors and staff
