About the role
Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions affecting elderly patients.
- Conduct Comprehensive Geriatric Assessments (CGA) covering medical, functional, cognitive, and social evaluations.
- Develop individualized care plans for complex health needs, including dementia, delirium, frailty, and polypharmacy.
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams such as nurses, physiotherapists, and social workers.
- Provide consultation services for hospitalized patients and support transitions between inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Contribute to the development of geriatric medicine services and age-friendly healthcare initiatives.
- Provide teaching, mentorship, and supervision to residents and allied healthcare professionals.
Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Accredited specialty training in Internal Medicine or Family Medicine.
- Fellowship or Subspecialty training in Geriatric Medicine.
- Board Certification in Geriatric Medicine recognized by the DOH Abu Dhabi.
- 3–5 years of post-board/fellowship experience as a Consultant Geriatrician.
- Eligibility for DOH Abu Dhabi Consultant licensure.
- Fluency in English; Arabic proficiency is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in tertiary hospitals, rehabilitation centers, or academic medical institutions.
- Expertise in dementia care, falls prevention, and frailty management.
- Experience in service development and establishing clinical care pathways.
- Participation in clinical research and academic activities related to aging.
