Consultant Gastroenterologist

Responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive assessments and manage patients with a wide range of gastrointestinal conditions
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including upper GI endoscopy, colonoscopy, polypectomy, and ERCP
• Interpret imaging, laboratory results, and endoscopic findings to develop evidence-based treatment plans
• Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultations
• Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, oncologists, and other specialists to ensure integrated patient care
• Participate in on-call duties as required by the department
• Educate patients on disease prevention, lifestyle modifications, and treatment options
• Maintain accurate medical records in accordance with Saudi healthcare regulations
• Contribute to departmental quality improvement, clinical audits, and patient safety initiatives
• Support training and mentorship of junior doctors and residents

Requirements

• Medical degree (MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution
• Board certification in Gastroenterology
• Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience in gastroenterology and endoscopy
• Proficiency in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively in a multicultural, fast-paced clinical environment
• Must hold or be eligible for Saudi Commission for Health Specialties (SCFHS) licensing
