Consultant Gastroenterologist

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and treat gastrointestinal disorders including GERD, IBS, IBD, liver diseases, pancreatitis, and gastrointestinal bleeding
• Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures including upper GI endoscopy and colonoscopy
• Manage both inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology cases
• Develop individualized treatment and long-term follow-up plans for patients
• Collaborate with surgeons, radiologists, dietitians, oncologists, and multidisciplinary medical teams
• Provide culturally sensitive communication and consultation to Arabic-speaking patients and families
• Maintain accurate patient records and ensure compliance with DOH regulations and hospital policies
• Participate in clinical audits, quality improvement programs, and CME activities
• Educate patients regarding digestive health, preventive care, diet, and lifestyle modifications

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi
• Board Certification or Fellowship in Gastroenterology
• Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Gastroenterology
• Minimum 5–7 years of post-board consultant experience in a reputed hospital or healthcare institution
• Expertise in diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy procedures
• Fluency in Arabic is mandatory

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in hepatology and management of chronic liver diseases
• Exposure to advanced endoscopic procedures
• Strong patient communication and counseling skills
• Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment
