Consultant Critical Care Medicine

Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill patients admitted to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
• Provide advanced life support for patients with respiratory failure, sepsis, trauma, and cardiac emergencies
• Perform critical care procedures including intubation, central venous catheter insertion, and ventilator management
• Lead multidisciplinary ICU rounds and coordinate comprehensive patient management plans
• Collaborate with emergency medicine, surgery, anesthesia, and other specialties for integrated care
• Supervise junior physicians, residents, and ICU staff
• Participate in rapid response teams and hospital emergency preparedness initiatives
• Ensure compliance with DOH Abu Dhabi regulations and hospital protocols
• Maintain high standards of infection control, patient safety, and clinical governance

Requirements

• MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi
• Board Certification or Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, or Anesthesia Critical Care
• Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter
• 5–7 years of post-board consultant experience in ICU or Critical Care Medicine
• ACLS certification

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in multidisciplinary and high-acuity ICUs
• Exposure to ECMO, CRRT, bronchoscopy, and advanced hemodynamic monitoring
• Academic, teaching, or research experience
• Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced multicultural healthcare environment
