Consultant Anaesthetist in Pain Medicine

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality anaesthetic care across agreed clinical services
• Deliver specialist Pain Medicine services, including assessment and management of acute and chronic pain
• Participate in multidisciplinary pain management clinics and collaborative treatment pathways
• Contribute to the consultant anaesthetic on-call rota
• Support the development and enhancement of Anaesthesia and Pain Medicine services
• Supervise and support junior doctors, trainees, and other healthcare professionals
• Participate in clinical governance, audit, quality improvement, and service development
• Maintain accurate clinical records in accordance with GMC standards
• Engage in teaching, research, and educational activities
• Undertake Supporting Professional Activities (SPA) including appraisal and CPD

Requirements

• Full GMC registration with a licence to practise
• Entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Anaesthesia, or within six months of CCT
• FRCA or an equivalent recognised qualification
• Demonstrable experience in Pain Medicine and Anaesthesia at Consultant level or equivalent
• Evidence of participation in clinical governance and quality improvement
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams
