About the role
Responsibilities
- Teach construction trades and carpentry basics as well as advanced pathway knowledge to 10th-12th grade students.
- Develop, plan, and implement curriculum and education programs in accordance with building, corporation, and state guidelines.
- Provide standards and skills-based training aligned to NLPS, facilitating potential dual credit through IvyTech.
- Conduct daily classroom and lab activities using effective management skills in a multi-period format.
- Maintain a safe, orderly, and welcoming learning environment.
- Adjust lessons and make modifications based on individual student needs, including IEP and 504 plans.
- Establish and host program advisory board meetings as directed by the CTE director.
- Build positive relationships with all key stakeholders while maintaining high professionalism.
Requirements
- Valid Indiana Teaching License in Construction Trades, Carpentry, or Electrical OR a minimum of 5,000 recent clock hours (within the last five years) in the construction trades industry.
- Eligibility to obtain a Workplace Specialist License.
- Ability to qualify for dual-credit instructor credentials.
- NCCER certification or a willingness to obtain certification.
- Strong written, verbal, and technical communication skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of current technologies and instructional methods relevant to the field.
- Ability to possess and maintain appropriate professional certifications and licenses for assigned courses.
