Construction Technician

Responsibilities

• Safely operate heavy equipment including trucks, tractors, mini-excavators, boring machines, trenchers, and forklifts
• Install, maintain, and repair copper and fiber-optic services
• Use hand and power tools to complete construction tasks and assignments
• Place and maintain cable/fiber within underground conduit systems
• Manually locate buried utility lines and use testing equipment to check utility access holes
• Climb utility poles and lift equipment weighing up to 45 lbs
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule to meet customer needs
• Submit daily time reporting tasks using a laptop computer

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Class A CDL license with a safe driving record
• Proven construction experience, including knowledge of heavy equipment operation and safety
• Competence with various hand and power tools
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluent English
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen, background check, and DOT physical
• Ability to work outdoors in changing weather conditions and perform physical tasks such as bending, squatting, and lifting
