Construction Safety Specialist

Responsibilities

• Provide on-site EHS observation of construction activities to ensure compliance with regulations and company standards
• Act as the owner's representative to engage with general contractors and subcontractors
• Proactively identify uncontrolled hazards and influence safe work practices
• Train on-site workers and subcontractors on EHS oversight program requirements
• Maintain required safety documentation, including JHAs, SDSs, and toolbox talk summaries
• Conduct daily site inspections and issue daily site observation reports
• Participate in daily pre-shift coordination meetings to review activities and associated hazards
• Review and comment on General Contractor JHAs to ensure safety prior to work commencement

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in construction management, safety, occupational health and safety, or a related field
• 3+ years of on-site experience in construction-specific project health and safety
• Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry and construction standards
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and manage multiple tasks
• CHST, ASP, or CSP certification preferred
• OSHA 30-hour construction certification preferred
• Experience with pharmaceutical or high-tech projects is highly desired
