About the role
Responsibilities
- Review construction performance to ensure early identification of variances and deficiencies
- Conduct regular surveillance audits, site walkdowns, and QC activities to document non-conformities
- Hold project teams accountable for quality control program requirements and the Quality Manual
- Develop and approve Inspection and Testing Plans (ITP) along with associated checklists
- Perform physical on-site inspections to verify adherence to ITP methods
- Manage and provide guidance to Subcontractors’ Quality Inspectors and Quality Field Engineers
- Oversee the material receiving process to ensure conformance with approved submittals
- Lead the construction turnover process and ensure all quality records are accurate and complete
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering, a construction-related field, or equivalent work experience
- 3+ years of experience in field construction
- Professional Engineer (P.Eng), Engineer in Training (EIT), or certified Engineering Technologist designation
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 Quality Management and ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
- Familiarity with Canadian Building Codes, CSA, and ASTM standards
- Proficiency in MS Office and Quality Management systems
Preferred Qualifications
- Multidisciplinary background in electrical, civil, or structural engineering
- Working knowledge of material testing (earthwork, asphalt, and concrete)
- Experience with rail welding methods such as Flush-Butt or Thermite
- Experience implementing problem-solving methodologies like Root Cause Analysis or Six Sigma
