Construction Inspector

Responsibilities

• Provide full-time inspection services for an iconic tunnel construction project in Vancouver, specifically supporting excavations, shaft excavations, and pre-excavation grouting.
• Monitor steel pipe installation and backfill grouting to ensure quality and compliance.
• Prepare detailed daily shift reports capturing HSE, progress, labour, equipment, materials, and work quality.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Contracting Authority, and Contractor teams to support project delivery.
• Review submittals and requests for information (RFIs).
• Manage and coordinate engineer inspections and monitor excavation performance.
• Witness and provide sign-off at construction hold points.
• Mentor junior team members and supervise the work of others.

Requirements

• Minimum 5 years of relevant industry or project experience.
• Proven experience in construction support, specifically with underground excavations and various support of excavation (SOE) types.
• Experience implementing design plans on active construction sites.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including up to 10-hour shifts, evenings, and night shifts.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is considered an asset.
