Construction Cost Estimator

Responsibilities

• Analyze drawings and technical documentation to prepare detailed time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
• Assess cost effectiveness of products and projects, tracking actual costs against contract award costs
• Consult with clients, vendors, engineers, architects, and construction foremen to resolve estimate issues
• Prepare estimates for management use in planning, organizing, and scheduling work
• Identify and quantify cost factors including production time, raw materials, equipment, and labor expenses
• Travel to job sites to gather information on material needs and labor requirements
• Use sophisticated computer software and databases to simulate building construction and calculate costs
• Recommend solutions to improve cost effectiveness, gain efficiencies, and save money

Requirements

• Ability to obtain and maintain a Federal or DoD Top Secret/SCI security clearance
• Bachelor's degree in economics, mathematics, building science, statistics, construction management, or engineering (or 4 additional years of relevant experience in lieu of degree)
• 10+ years of experience as a cost estimator on construction projects
• Industry recognized certification such as CCP, EVP, PSP, or PMI-SP
• Proficiency with industry software including RS Means and CTC

Preferred Qualifications

• Active Top Secret/SCI clearance
• Excellent IT, math, and problem-solving skills
• Strong communication, presentation, and project management skills
• Knowledge of regulations, price trends, and exchange rates in building construction
