Conservation Coordinator AmeriCorps Member

Responsibilities

• Support watershed restoration, abandoned mine drainage (AMD) treatment, and riparian buffer maintenance
• Conduct water quality sampling, monitoring, and data management
• Produce monthly conservation podcasts and electronic newsletters
• Manage social media presence and digital outreach platforms
• Develop and deliver environmental education programs for youth and adults
• Manage the Indiana County Teaching and Community Garden, greenhouse, and high tunnel operations
• Recruit and coordinate volunteers for conservation projects and community events
• Coordinate the Evergreen Conservancy Plastic Film Recycling Program
• Perform field investigations, GPS data collection, and technical fieldwork

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
• Ability to work outdoors over uneven terrain and in varying weather conditions
• Valid driver's license with ability to travel throughout Indiana County
• Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications

• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management, Biology, Ecology, or related field
• Experience in water quality monitoring or environmental fieldwork
• Experience in environmental education or community outreach
• Skills in social media management, photography, or podcast production
• Knowledge of GIS, GPS, or mapping applications
• Experience in gardening, greenhouse management, or sustainable agriculture

The Indiana County Conservation District (ICCD) and Evergreen Conservancy (EC) work together to support environmental stewardship through conservation project implementation, watershed restoration, and community engagement throughout Indiana County.
