Concept Design Engineer

Responsibilities

• Develop and verify mechanical design articles through simulations, tolerance calculations, and characteristic-based feasibility studies.
• Create mechanical design performance specifications and define dimensional requirements for parts, sub-assemblies, and complete devices.
• Initiate product cost calculations and plan design verification samples.
• Support FMEA activities and integrate results into the design process.
• Create single part sub-assemblies adhering to DFM (manufacturability) and DFA (assembly) standards.
• Manage design topics including styling, A-surfaces, parting lines, and B-surfaces (bezel, reflector).
• Address decorative defects such as sink marks and weld lines, and manage light leakage and package assembly.
• Define datum systems (RPS) and manage tolerances for critical components.

Requirements

• Diploma in Tool and Die Engineering or BE/B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7-12 years of experience in lighting-related part design.
• Proficiency in CATIA V5.
• Strong proficiency in English communication (both oral and written).
• Knowledge of MS PowerPoint and Excel.

Preferred Qualifications

• Post Diploma in Plastic Mold Design or Diploma in Plastics Mold Making (CIPET).
• Post Diploma in relevant Tool and Die (NTTF).
• Experience with Mold flow communicator.
