Responsibilities

• Analyze complex business requirements and design technical specifications for computer platforms and applications
• Provide coding direction to less experienced staff and develop complex original code
• Act as a subject matter expert in IBM mainframe COBOL architecture, including code optimization and legacy modernization
• Oversee systems testing, program logic verification, and platform migration to production
• Optimize batch job streams, JCL, and scheduling dependencies
• Provide production support, including root cause analysis and incident resolution

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years of experience as a COBOL programmer with recent mainframe application development experience
• Technical expertise with IBM mainframe environments including z/OS, VSAM, CICS, and DB2
• Proficiency in ISPF, COBOL, CICS, VSAM, JCL, and DB2
• Ability to work independently with minimum supervision

Preferred Qualifications

• Secret clearance
• Experience with job scheduling tools
• Experience with RACF or equivalent mainframe security frameworks
