About the role

About the Company

Axiom is building a compounding ecosystem to replace animal testing and, over time, reshape how clinical trials are run. The company focuses on solving drug-induced liver injury through an integrated data and agentic system used by top pharma companies and innovative biotechs.

Responsibilities

  • Own major parts of Axiom’s computational mass spectrometry stack
  • Analyze large-scale biological mass spectrometry datasets (LC-MS/MS) across metabolomics, lipidomics, proteomics, and reactive metabolite workflows
  • Build, improve, and scale computational pipelines for untargeted LC-MS/MS analysis using tools like MZmine, OpenMS, MS-DIAL, GNPS, or Skyline
  • Develop workflows for peak detection, alignment, normalization, annotation, and batch correction
  • Turn raw mass spec data into model-ready representations for machine learning systems
  • Collaborate with biology, chemistry, ML, and engineering teams to design and improve high-throughput assays
  • Extract actionable biological insights such as pathway-level changes and metabolic signatures
  • Develop quality control systems for high-throughput datasets to manage instrument performance and batch effects
  • Investigate how mass spec data can explain model errors or reveal missing biology

Requirements

  • Experience building computational workflows for untargeted LC-MS/MS metabolomics
  • Deep understanding of mass spec data challenges including missingness, batch effects, adducts, and retention time drift
  • Ability to move from raw files to biological interpretation
  • Strong reasoning skills regarding metabolism, pathway disruption, and lipid biology
  • Experience working closely with wet lab scientists to improve experimental design
  • Proficiency in using mass spectrometry data to answer complex biological questions
