About the role
Responsibilities
- Develop and analyze physics-based and data-driven computational models to solve complex problems in the oil and gas industry
- Work collaboratively across global, cross-disciplinary teams and with academic or industry third parties to accelerate technology deployment
- Frame computational challenges based on business needs, balancing accuracy with runtime efficiency
- Develop solutions that merge physics and data while incorporating uncertainty and constraining predictive models with field data
Requirements
- PhD in Engineering, Applied Mathematics, Geoscience, Computational Science, or a closely related field
- Experience developing, applying, and analyzing physics-based models and related algorithms
- Strong background in multiscale or multiphysics mathematical modeling, scientific computing, and numerical analysis
- Hands-on experience with deep learning architectures (e.g., autoencoders, transformers, diffusion models, GANs)
- Experience in surrogate modeling, including machine learning, physics-informed ML, or reduced-order modeling
- Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C++/C#
- Proficiency in ML frameworks like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or scikit-learn
- Experience with software engineering best practices, including testing, agile development, and version control
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Databricks or Spark
- Experience working in Linux and High-Performance Computing (HPC) environments
- Prior experience in the upstream oil and gas industry
