Comptroller

Responsibilities

• Provide administrative oversight to the accounting division and ensure accurate accounting activities
• Manage department work, projects, and personnel activities within the Finance Department
• Assist in strategic planning, policy development, and financial data reporting
• Oversee, train, and evaluate staff involved in city-wide accounting processes
• Coordinate the City’s annual audit and support the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report
• Revise auditing and accounting procedures and related systems
• Contribute to the development of enterprise financial software applications
• Serve as an in-house consultant for city-wide financial applications and procedures
• Supervise year-end adjustments and the closing of accounting systems

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field from an accredited college or university
• Valid CPA certification
• Extensive experience in local government finance operations
• Considerable experience with government enterprise accounting software
• Ability to pass a post-employment offer physical examination and drug screen
