About the role
Responsibilities
- Support the daily operations of a state-of-the-art indoor composting facility.
- Operate and maintain a wide range of equipment and systems used throughout the composting process.
- Monitor and move materials through various stages of production.
- Perform routine inspections and minor equipment maintenance.
- Support facility cleanliness and operational readiness.
- Utilize SCADA systems to monitor and control processes (for higher-level roles).
- Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid California Class C driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.
- Experience with construction-related tools and equipment.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds alone and occasionally over 100 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to work in environments involving organic waste, fumes, and varying weather conditions.
- Willingness to obtain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, Confined Space, Forklift, etc.) within 6 months of appointment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in a public agency.
- Experience operating heavy equipment, such as a front-end loader.
- Familiarity with process monitoring systems like SCADA.
