Compost Facility Operator I-III (DOQ)

Responsibilities

• Support the daily operations of a state-of-the-art indoor composting facility.
• Operate and maintain a wide range of equipment and systems used throughout the composting process.
• Monitor and move materials through various stages of production.
• Perform routine inspections and minor equipment maintenance.
• Support facility cleanliness and operational readiness.
• Utilize SCADA systems to monitor and control processes (for higher-level roles).
• Ensure compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid California Class C driver's license and ability to maintain insurability.
• Experience with construction-related tools and equipment.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds alone and occasionally over 100 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to work in environments involving organic waste, fumes, and varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to obtain required certifications (CPR/First Aid, Confined Space, Forklift, etc.) within 6 months of appointment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous experience in a public agency.
• Experience operating heavy equipment, such as a front-end loader.
• Familiarity with process monitoring systems like SCADA.
