About the role

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accurate, safe mechanical repairs and inspections in compliance with FRA and railroad rules
  • Diagnose equipment malfunctions and restore components to operational condition
  • Perform troubleshooting on engines, air brake systems, running gear, and related equipment
  • Complete digital work orders and maintain accurate maintenance records in the asset-management system
  • Interpret mechanical drawings, blueprints, and schematics to complete high-quality repairs
  • Support a strong safety culture and assist with the safe movement of locomotives or passenger coaches

Requirements

  • High-school diploma or GED
  • Experience or understanding of mechanical maintenance, equipment repair, or related technical fields
  • Ability to read blueprints, mechanical drawings, or circuit schematics
  • Basic knowledge of electrical theory
  • Valid driver’s license with no alcohol/substance-related moving violations in the past 36 months
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Windows tools
  • Ability to lift up to 70 lbs regularly and up to 100 lbs occasionally
  • Ability to work in a unionized environment and follow collective bargaining agreement (CBA) guidelines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Willingness to obtain Qualified Maintenance Person (QMP) designation
