Composite Design and Test Engineer

Responsibilities

• Support the development of composite layups, material selection, and manufacturing process integration
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams including materials scientists, manufacturing engineers, and test engineers
• Participate in prototype fabrication, testing, and data analysis to validate design concepts
• Assist in the design and analysis of composite structures using CAD and FEA tools
• Contribute to technical documentation, reports, and presentations for stakeholders
• Maintain lab operations, including safety documentation and worker qualifications

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline
• Active DOE Q Clearance (or equivalent active security clearance with ability to obtain/maintain)
• Knowledge of composite materials and structural analysis
• Proficiency with CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks, CATIA)
• Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus)
• Ability to work onsite full time in Livermore, CA

Preferred Qualifications

• Graduate degree in Mechanical Engineering or a highly related field
• Experience with manufacturing processes such as prepreg layup, resin transfer molding, or autoclave programming
• Experience with composite materials testing and characterization methods
• Familiarity with aerospace industry standards and certification processes
• Experience with controls and robotics related to automated manufacturing or testing
