About the role
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, inspect, diagnose and document internal and external composite damage
- Perform coating and structural repairs of internal and external composite structures like wind turbine blades and nacelles
- Modify and repair fiberglass, carbon fiber, resin and other composite materials
- Execute contractual obligations and activities set forth with customers daily
- Perform Lock Out Tag Out (LOTO) to maintain a safe working environment
- Interpret engineering drawings and lamination schedules
- Coordinate with engineering support teams for non-standard repairs
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working with composite materials
- Proven technical and team leadership skills
- Experience with supervised composite blade damage assessment
- Experience with lightening damage tip, carbon blade tip and multi-shell tip replacement
- Experience with internal and external adhesive bonding
- Competence in repairing leading edge (LE) and trailing edge (TE) cracks
- Understanding of mix ratios for all composite repair chemicals
- Ability to read and understand electrical schematic drawings
- Ability to climb wind turbines vertically at least 300 feet
- Ability to maintain weight between 120 and 280 pounds for OSHA compliance
- Ability to lift and move equipment over 50 pounds
- Willingness to work in adverse weather conditions
