Components Engineer

Neros is a defense technology company rebuilding America’s drone industrial base. We design and manufacture high-performance unmanned systems that are tested in combat, iterated at startup speed, and built at massive scale.

Responsibilities

• Own the creation and maintenance of components in the Altium library, including schematic symbols, PCB footprints, and 3D models
• Manage component data entry and lifecycle status in the ERP system
• Review new part requests for technical compliance, sourcing availability, and regulatory status (NDAA, RoHS, REACH)
• Serve as the primary technical interface to component manufacturers to obtain compliance documentation and technical specifications
• Define and validate alternate part equivalencies to ensure form, fit, and function requirements are met
• Manage component lifecycle events including end-of-life notifications and last-time-buy decisions
• Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to resolve availability issues

Requirements

• Background in electrical engineering or a closely related field
• Hands-on experience with Altium Designer
• Strong working knowledge of electronic components (passives, ICs, connectors, semiconductors)
• Experience with ERP systems for component data management
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements including RoHS, REACH, and NDAA Section 889
• Exceptional attention to detail and organizational skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior experience in components engineering, PCB library management, or PCB layout
• Familiarity with AVL/AML management and procurement processes
• Experience managing component obsolescence and lifecycle mitigation
• Familiarity with ITAR/EAR export control requirements
• Experience in defense, aerospace, or regulated production electronics environments
