Compliance Specialist, Advisory Insurance

Responsibilities

• Implement, maintain, and administer the BMO Insurance compliance program through risk assessments and surveillance activities
• Provide advice and guidance to the business on managing regulatory risk and implementing compliance solutions
• Conduct risk assessments to identify effective compliance controls and support root cause analysis for control failures
• Identify, assess, and oversee the resolution of compliance issues, including ensuring adequate remediation and validation
• Analyze and report compliance information to Insurance Governance and business management
• Consult on new products, services, and strategic projects to incorporate compliance requirements
• Represent the compliance function during internal, external, and regulatory audits and examinations
• Provide regulatory perspectives on business sales and marketing materials

Requirements

• 3-5 years of relevant experience in regulatory compliance or financial services
• Post-secondary degree in a related field of study or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Strong knowledge of the regulatory framework governing the insurance industry
• In-depth analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills
• Proven project management and relationship management skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
• Experience in a first line of defense (1LOD) role is considered an asset
