About the role
Responsibilities
- Build and scale OpenFX's global compliance infrastructure, including policies and procedures for virtual assets, payments, AML/CFT, and data security.
- Serve as the Money Laundering Reporting Officer (MLRO) and AML/CFT Compliance Officer for UAE regulated entities.
- Act as the primary point of contact for UAE regulators and lead licensing initiatives.
- Oversee client onboarding, KYC/KYB reviews, and Customer Due Diligence (CDD) to ensure adherence to regulatory standards.
- Leverage RegTech and blockchain analytics tools to enhance transaction monitoring and program scalability.
- Partner with Product, Engineering, and Legal teams to provide compliance advice on new products and market expansion.
- Manage compliance requirements and audits from banking partners and payment networks.
- Report on the UAE AML/CFT and sanctions program to the UAE Board.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree.
- 5+ years of compliance experience in virtual assets, payments, fintech, or financial services.
- Strong understanding of UAE financial regulations, including AML/CFT legislation and Payment Services Regulations.
- Proven experience building and executing compliance programs, including AML/KYC processes and suspicious activity reporting.
- Experience serving as an MLRO or in a senior AML compliance role at a UAE-regulated entity.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced startup environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in cross-border payments, FX, or virtual asset compliance.
- Familiarity with compliance technology such as Actimize, SAS, ComplyAdvantage, or blockchain tools like Chainalysis and Elliptic.
- Prior experience supporting UAE licensing applications and working directly with regulators.
- Law degree or professional certifications such as ICA, ACAMS, or CAMS.
