Compliance Lead

Responsibilities

• Act as the primary liaison for Canadian regulators, including the Bank of Canada, FINTRAC, and CIRO.
• Perform horizon scanning to identify upcoming changes in Canadian regulatory and FinCrime legislation.
• Develop and maintain Second Line of Defense (2LoD) policies and procedures for the Canadian market.
• Oversee KYC, Enhanced Due Diligence (EDD), and transaction monitoring controls.
• Provide compliance advisory to Product Managers and Engineers to ensure products are "compliant by design."
• Support regular monitoring and independent testing of regulatory and financial crime controls.
• Manage internal audits and provide comprehensive reporting on the health of the Canadian compliance program.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in compliance or audit.
• Deep knowledge of money transmission, prepaid accounts, and Canadian consumer compliance regulations.
• Proven experience with Canadian regulatory reporting and utilizing territory portals.
• Experience managing cross-functional stakeholders across product, operations, finance, and legal teams.
• Proficiency in G-Suite, Jira, and Confluence.
• Strong ability to meet tight deadlines and handle sensitive financial information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working within the Money Services Business (MSB) industry.
• Prior direct experience working with the Bank of Canada, FINTRAC, or CIRO.
• Experience working with international teams in a global regulatory environment.
• Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager (CRCM) or a similar professional qualification.
