Responsibilities
- Work cross-functionally to mitigate compliance risk while facilitating business objectives
- Advise on export-control compliance programs including ITAR, EAR, and DOE Part 810
- Design and manage classified data and industrial security practices
- Support FOCI mitigation and classified information handling requirements
- Develop and implement enterprise-wide compliance policies, controls, training, and audit mechanisms
- Manage internal investigations, incident response, and regulatory reporting obligations
- Support compliance aspects of strategic transactions, partnerships, and government engagements
Requirements
- J.D. degree
- 8+ years of legal experience including clerkships
- Substantial experience with export controls, classification, nuclear compliance, or national security matters
- Ability to work onsite full-time in Los Angeles, CA
- Willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in the nuclear, national security, or similarly highly regulated industry
- Experience developing and maintaining compliance policies and monitoring frameworks
- Prior experience conducting internal investigations or risk assessments
- Ability to translate complex regulatory requirements into practical business guidance
