Compliance and Training Coordinator

Responsibilities

• Attend IACUC protocol review and regular meetings
• Disseminate information and advice regarding the animal care and use program to Columbia University researchers
• Visit and assess animal care and use facilities and investigators to ensure compliance with federal regulations, national standards, and university policies
• Conduct reviews of animal use records to ensure consistency with IACUC-approved protocols
• Perform pre-reviews of protocols to ensure completeness and regulatory compliance
• Report findings from faculty and laboratory assessments to the Executive Director
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of laboratory animal science and engage in professional development

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• Four years of related laboratory animal experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Certified Professional in IACUC Administration (CPIA) certification
• Strong knowledge of regulations and guidelines pertaining to the use of laboratory animals
• Familiarity with commonly used laboratory animal species
• Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities
• Excellent communication skills for interacting with researchers and veterinarians
• Keen attention to detail
