Complex Litigation Attorney – Special Investigations Unit

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with the Claims/Special Investigation Unit (SIU) to combat fraudulent claims in No-Fault and other cases
• Research, prepare, file, and litigate fraud cases, including RICO and other affirmative actions
• Develop litigation strategies and negotiate complex matters
• Draft discovery requests, motions, memorandums, and legal briefs
• Prepare for and conduct depositions and examinations under oath (EUOs)
• Attend arbitrations, mediations, and trials, and work with expert witnesses
• Represent the company in court appearances, including conferences and hearings, in State and Federal courts
• Negotiate settlements and prepare related documentation

Requirements

• Juris Doctorate and active membership in good standing with the New York State Bar
• Federal Court Admission required upon selection
• 7 or more years of legal experience
• Proven experience in Federal Court
• Experience within the insurance industry
• Strong legal research, writing, and litigation management skills
• Ability to travel within the New York Metro area for court appearances and hearings
