About the role

Responsibilities

  • Conduct clinical assessments and behavioral observations to formulate clinical impressions for triage, care planning, and consultation
  • Provide initial clinical support and counseling to distressed students in crisis and facilitate referrals to appropriate resources
  • Prepare detailed risk factor analyses to determine emergency escalation criteria and develop safety care plans
  • Provide case management and coordination for students with urgent or complex problems requiring multiple services
  • Coordinate personal care plans for students admitted to or discharged from hospitals, liaising with internal and external contacts
  • Consult with campus clinicians and partners regarding safety planning for students in crisis
  • Supervise the activities of one clinical placement student

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in a regulated health profession (e.g., MSW/RSW; MScN/RN or equivalent)
  • Membership in good standing with a relevant Ontario regulatory college (e.g., OCSWSSW, CNO)
  • 6-7 years of recent post-registration clinical experience in mental health, including crisis intervention and risk assessment
  • Proficiency with EMR systems (e.g., Accuro) and standard office software
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in emotionally charged situations while maintaining professional boundaries
  • Capacity to apply culturally responsive, equity-informed practice with diverse student populations

Preferred Qualifications

  • Psychiatric or mental health specialization
  • Experience working with university-aged young adults
  • Demonstrated experience liaising across systems, including campus services, hospitals, and community providers
