Compensation Specialist

Responsibilities

• Process the City's bi-weekly payroll to ensure accurate and efficient operations
• Coordinate and process payroll authorization forms, including W-4s, direct deposits, and deferred compensation
• Maintain confidential payroll and employee benefit files, ensuring adherence to privacy policies
• Resolve discrepancies and problems arising from payroll processing procedures
• Oversee and process IRS levies, payroll garnishments, and child support deductions
• Prepare and process W-2 and 1095 forms and manage tax withholdings
• Assist with the completion of official records related to hiring, termination, and retirement
• Provide support to timekeepers and assist with time entry batches and off-cycle payrolls
• Respond to employee and citizen inquiries regarding payroll and personnel records in a timely manner

Requirements

• Associate's Degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field from an accredited college or university
• Experience in enterprise payroll and benefit systems (3 years for Level I; 5 years for Level II)
• Ability to pass a post-employment physical examination and drug screen
