Community Services Worker

Responsibilities

• Conduct initial intake applications and screen clients for emergency assistance, including food, clothing, and household needs.
• Assist with food bank operations, including ordering, receiving donations, and maintaining organization and cleanliness.
• Support community outreach programs such as SOS, FAM, Aboriginal Market, and Mobile Food Bank Outreach.
• Sort and process donated goods and ensure facility stock levels are adequate.
• Maintain accurate client records and activity logs using Link2Feed and other computer systems while ensuring strict confidentiality.
• Provide direction and support to family services volunteers.
• Perform general administrative duties, including answering phones and directing inquiries.
• Follow all health and safety regulations and maintain a clean, safe environment for clients and staff.

Requirements

• Enrolled in a post-secondary community college or university program.
• Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person with refugee protection status, aged 15 to 30.
• Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License.
• Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
• Safe Food Handlers Certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to pass a vulnerable sector police record check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate.
• Knowledge of community-based resources and barriers faced by disenfranchised populations.
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
