Community Service Worker

Responsibilities

• Support community service programs including the food bank, street ministry, and clothing programs
• Receive, sort, and store food bank donations and organize clothing donations
• Register food bank guests using Link2Feed and host guests through the shopping-model food bank
• Assist with meal preparation and food service for various community programs
• Perform event set-up and tear-down for community distribution events
• Coordinate and direct volunteers, including assisting with recruitment and resource management
• Perform administrative tasks such as client communication via phone and email
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of community service locations and vehicles

Requirements

• Ability to perform manual labour, including frequent reaching, bending, and stooping
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
• Completion of a Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Search
• Willingness to work evenings and weekends based on program needs
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of community-based resources and experience networking with social service agencies
• Experience working with individuals from diverse social and cultural backgrounds
