About the role

Responsibilities

  • Support pre-planned community program activities such as food bank operations, crafts, sports, and homework stations
  • Provide general administrative support, including greeting visitors and assisting with reception tasks
  • Assist with public relations events and regular community campaigns
  • Maintain strict confidentiality regarding all program participants
  • Work collaboratively within a team setting to complete various tasks and activities
  • Adhere to all organizational policies, health and safety regulations, and professional codes of conduct

Requirements

  • Completion of some high school coursework
  • One year of related experience in a community or service setting
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Safe Food Handling Certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and perform physical tasks such as reaching, bending, and standing for long periods
  • Must be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or have refugee status (Canada Summer Jobs Program requirement)
  • Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 at the beginning of the employment period

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with challenging or emotionally dependent individuals
  • Strong interpersonal, listening, and communication skills
