About the role
Responsibilities
- Bridge the gap between marginalized communities (particularly Black, Latinx, and LGBTQIA2S+ populations) and the healthcare system through outreach and education.
- Plan and execute outreach events, workshops, and activities at various community venues to promote health equity and awareness.
- Establish and maintain relationships with community leaders, organizations, and local businesses to enhance access to sexual and reproductive health services.
- Connect individuals with relevant community resources, healthcare services, and support networks.
- Assist clients in making appointments and provide general referrals to health and social services.
- Maintain and update LGBTQ+ affirming referral directories and community resource lists.
- Perform administrative tasks including data collection, maintaining outreach logs, and preparing reports.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, counseling, or a related field preferred.
- Two years of relevant experience in navigation or referral services if no college degree is held.
- Knowledge of the specific barriers faced by LGBTQ+ individuals in accessing healthcare and human services.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Notion, and Word.
- Ability to travel regularly across Chemung, Steuben, and Tompkins counties.
- Demonstrated commitment to racial equity, gender justice, and bodily autonomy.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous coursework related to LGBTQ+ issues.
- Experience working with electronic health records or Salesforce.
