About the role
Responsibilities
- Conduct initial intake applications and screen clients for emergency assistance, including food, clothing, and household needs
- Support food bank operations, including ordering, receiving donations, and maintaining organization and cleanliness
- Refer clients to community resources or pastoral assistance as appropriate
- Maintain accurate client records and statistical information using Link2Feed and other computer systems
- Provide direction and support to family services volunteers
- Assist with community programs, annual fundraisers, and seasonal initiatives like Christmas Hampers and Kettles
- Perform vehicle maintenance tasks, including circle checks, fueling, and maintaining accurate driver logs
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and organizational policies
Requirements
- Community College Diploma, Social Service Worker diploma, or equivalent in a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of related experience, including work with individuals facing mental health challenges
- Valid Alberta Driver’s License with a satisfactory driver’s abstract
- Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds
- Safe Food Handlers Certification
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to exercise diplomacy, tact, and compassion
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and general computer skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certificate
