Community Development Specialist I

Responsibilities

• Evaluate proposed community development projects and implement neighborhood plans to meet City redevelopment goals
• Process applications and grant awards for assigned projects and programs
• Prepare and monitor contracts while providing technical assistance to agencies regarding project development and compliance
• Write and review rehabilitation specifications, prepare bid packages, and monitor construction activities
• Oversee construction work, approve activities, and authorize associated payments
• Conduct research and financial analysis to assist in preparing grant applications, budgets, and project completion reports
• Manage departmental budgets, financial systems, purchase orders, and personnel information
• Prepare periodic and annual progress reports for all assigned projects

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Urban Studies, or an equivalent accredited field
• Valid driver's license (must be maintained throughout employment)
• Ability to pass a background investigation and provide evidence of employment authorization and identity
• Successful completion of a job-related medical examination, including a drug screen
• Ability to pass a nicotine screening (newly hired employees must remain tobacco and nicotine free)
