About the role
Responsibilities
- Provide communication therapy and lead group therapy sessions
- Facilitate mealtime assistance and dining programs
- Organize volunteers and support endoscopy equipment setup for swallow assessments
- Perform therapeutic feeding as directed by Speech-Language Pathologists (SLP)
- Train patients in the use of methods or devices for social interaction and life skills
- Create communication devices and displays
- Assist therapists in treatment sessions and educate patients and caregivers
- Collaborate with therapists on equipment programming and material arrangement
- Participate in team meetings and patient program planning
- Ensure compliance with patient safety policies and procedures
Requirements
- Post graduate diploma in Communicative Disorders Assistant or equivalent
- Clinical or teaching experience with non-speaking or physically disabled persons
- Proficiency in programming speech generating devices (SGDs)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills
- Ability to construct communication displays using Boardmaker or Microsoft Word
